Brewing news USA, MI: Bell's Brewery to expand production

Bell's Brewery is planning to invest $10mln to $12mln in three projects to expand the production, The Drinks Business Review reported on February, 11.

The company plans to add a waste-water system, a fermentation cellar and a canning line at the Comstock Township plant, while planning to build a sports bar and a restaurant at the Café this year.

Financing for the projects is expected to be completed by 1 April 2013, while the canning equipment will be ordered for in the late fall or early winter and start canning of the Oberon beer by late of March 2014.

The brewery also plans to buy about 9 acres of land near the Comstock Township facility to add a logistics center in the future.

For the fermentation cellar, the company plans to purchase 12,800-barrel tanks and a small canning line that will can about 500 cans per minute.

Earlier the brewery expanded the brewhouse by 200 barrels at the Comstock facility that increased the annual production to about 800,000 barrels, while the company had sold 216,316 barrels in 2012, up from 185,000 in 2011.
