Radeberger Gruppe is planning new acquisitions with the purpose to increase its share in the German beer market, Ulrich Kallmeyer, brewery’s board chairman mentioned in a statement.

Ulrich Kallmeyer, told to German media that Radeberger is currently in talks with medium-sized and large breweries about possible takeovers.

About Radeberger Gruppe:
One of Germany's largest brewer is the Radeberger Gruppe with an output of 9,2 miilion hectoliters (2004). Under the parent company - in addition to other companies - are the following important breweries: Dortmunder Actien-Brauerei (Dortmund Capital Stock Brewery) in Dortmund, Berliner Kindl Brauerei (Child of Berlin Brewery) in Berlin, Radeberger Exportbierbrauerei (Radeberg Export Beer Brewery) in Radeberg/Dresden, Krostitzer Brauerei in Krostitz/Leipzig, Binding-Brauerei in Frankfurt am Main, Henninger-Bräu in Frankfurt am Main, Erbacher Brauhaus in Erbach/Odenwald, Krušovice brewery in the Czech Republic, and Allgäuer Brauhaus (Allgäu District of Bavaria Brewery) as well as the table water producer Selters Mineralquelle (Selters Mineral Spring).

Radeberger Pilsner, Clausthaler non-alcoholic, Schöfferhofer Weizen und Selters Mineralwasser are the most prominent brands of the group range, each assuming a top position nationwide. This quartet is complimented by leading regional Pilsner-style brands in the sales areas around their breweries. Further, the Group offers specialty and trend products like Henninger Radler (a shandy-style beer/sparkling lemonade mix), Berliner Kindl Weisse (wheat beer), Binding Lager, Krušovice Cerné (dark or black beer), or Corona Extra as competitive supplements to the range.

Radeberger Gruppe sells its national, regional, local, and specialty brands through the food trade, off-premise trade/convenience stores, automobile service stations, and on-premise consumption (HOtel-REstaurant-CAtering) outlets. In addition to Key Account Management for the food trade, off-trade/convenience stores, and system catering, two national sales organizations cover the sector.

The formerly independent HoReCa field sales forces of Berliner Kindl Brauerei AG, Dortmunder Actien-Brauerei AG, Radeberger Exportbierbrauerei GmbH, and Binding-Brauerei AG were consolidated into a national sales organization of the Radeberger Gruppe on 01 January 2002.

Parallel to this, a strong field sales force organization serves the food trade. With these two national sales organizations, Radeberger Gruppe is able to provide customers with a range of highly competitive national, regional, and local brands as well as various specialties from one source. This service and brand assortment is unique in the German beverages market.

The beer unit of food group Dr. Oetker is hoping to up its market share in Germany from 15% to 20%. Dr Oetker completed its takeover of Radeberger, Germany’s third-largest brewer, in 2003. The brewer posted turnover last year of EUR 1.3 billion.
