Barley news USDA: World barley trade 2004/2005 and 2005/2006

United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) published on December 9 its latest forecast and estimation of world trade changes of barley in 2004/2005 and 2005/2006:

2005/2006 Australia barley exports is raised by 1.2 million tonnes to 5.5 million tonnes based on higher production and anticipated heavy sales to Asia and the Middle East. Kazakhstan barley export is cut in half to 200,000 tonnes on lower production.

2005/2006 Iran barley imports is up by 200,000 to 800,000 tonnes on expectations of continued strong purchases from Australia. Morocco barley import is up by 200,000 tonnes to 800,000 tonnes to offset lower production. 2005/2006 Saudi Arabia barley imports is forecast up 500,000 tonnes to 6.5 million tonnes, given continued strong demand.

2004/2005 Romania barley export is raised 108,000 tonnes to 308,000 tonnes with final trade data.

2004/2005 Iran barley import is up 275,000 tonnes to 1.125 million tonnes due to strong late-season imports from the Black Sea region. Syria barley import is cut by 200,000 tonnes to 500,000 tonnes due to slower than anticipated purchases.
