Malaysia: Carlsberg signs 5-year sponsorship contract for Malaysian Open golf tournament

Carlsberg sustained their involvement for the Malaysian Open golf tournament by signing another five-year contract as a main partner of the annual event, according to the Thestar The brewer have hosted five Malaysian Opens as title sponsor, converting the event into a high point on the European Tour agenda.

The managing director of Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia Mogens Joenck declared: “Five years ago when Asia was still suffering from the consequences of the financial crisis, we made a commitment to station this global tournament in Malaysia. Now in line with our long-term strategy in Asia, we feel that the time is right for us to work with other companies, particular Malaysian companies, to ensure the continuous growth of this event. As the main partner of the tournament, we look forward to working together with Malaysian Golf Association (MGA), the European and Asian Tours and the promoter Parallel Media Asia and all sponsors to further enhance the growth in stature and prize money for the event,''

Datuk Mohd Zain Yusuf, MGA vice president said he was delighted at Carlsberg's decision to carry on their sponsorship.

“Carlsberg have been the backbone of our Malaysian Open over the last five years. They have been instrumental in helping us to put our Open on the international golf calendar as a major national professional championship with one of the highest prize money at stake in the region.

“MGA are naturally delighted that Carlsberg have decided to continue this partnership with us for another five years. We have no doubt this will further assist to propel the Open to greater heights” Mohd Zain said.
