UK: Barley and wheat usage for brewing, malting, distilling increases in Q3 2017

In Q3 2017 the UK brewers, maltsters and distillers used 466 thousand tonnes of barley, up 4.3%, and 212 thousand tonnes of wheat, up 19% against the same period in 2016, Defra reported on November 2.

Barley closing stocks as at the end of the quarter are reported at 901 thousand tonnes versus 964 thousand at the same time last year.

Wheat closing stocks are up at 12 thousand tonnes versus 8 thousand a year ago.
