Russia: First-half beer production up 0.8%
Russias first-half beer output totalled 40.05 mln hl which is 0.8% more than the production volume over the first six months of 2016, Retail.ru reported on October 11.
Vodka output in the same time grew by 19.4%, data by the Union of Russian Brewers showed.
Tax revenues from beer sales (both of domestic and imported brands) amounted to 72.9 bln roubles, up 2.5% over the first half of last year. This, however, was the lowest increase in the industry as the overall tax revenues from alcoholic drinks increased by 14.9% (with tax revenues from sales of liquor up 23.2% and those of wine up 52%).
Russias beer excises increased by 5% as from January 1.
