Germany: Malt output increases for the second year in a row

According to the German Maltsters Association, the country’s barley malt output amounted to 1.892 mln tonnes last year and wheat output to 167 thousand tonnes.

Both figures are up from 2015, when barley malt output totalled 1.854 mln tonnes and wheat 158 thousand.

According to H. M. Gauger GmbH analysts, the 2016 figures indicate capacity usage of 96%.

In 2014, German maltsters produced 1.827 mln tonnes of barley malt and 153 thousand tonnes of wheat malt, it is reported.
