China: Barley import totals 5.005 mln tonnes in 2016

Chinese barley imports were 5.005 mln tonnes in 2016, of which 3.25 mln from Australia, 0.73 mln from Canada and 0.35 mln tonnes from Ukraine, H. M. Gauger GmbH said in their February report.

In spite of all import complications China continued to purchase feed barley. Estimates are that the country already secured 1.0 mln tonnes of new crop feed and 1.4 mln tonnes of new crop malting barley from Australia.
