India: Anheuser-Busch likely to counter SABMiller's bid to acquire 50% stake in Mount Shivalik Group

SABMiller has made a bid to acquire 50 percent stake in the Mount Shivalik Group, India Business Insight Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge announced January 23.

Anheuser-Busch, which manufactures Budweiser beer, is likely to counter this bid with its own offer. SABMiller and A-B are battling it out in the global brewing industry and were involved in competitive bidding for Harbin of China. A-B has now approached ABN Amro, which has the mandate to find a partner for the Mount Shivalik Group.
