Canada: Barley crop estimate slightly increased to 8 mln tonnes
Canadas barley crop estimate is increased slightly to 8.0 mln tonnes, in alignment with StatsCan increasing their estimate to 8.14 mln tonnes, RMI Analytics said in their latest report.
Soil moisture conditions have improved dramatically across western Canada, and parts of key US barley areas, due to the arrival of heavy snow the past weeks.
With the minor increase in production, malting barley prices are down slightly in a move to stay competitive in global markets. On the other hand, export feed barley values are steady, as the domestic feed barley market is higher.
Farmer selling is limited as year-end approaches, and imported US corn prices have risen on stronger US futures.
