EU & UK: French barley condition deteriorates significantly over the past two weeks
Over the past two weeks French barleys good/excellent condition has deteriorated significantly winter barley condition fell by a total of 15% to 17% while spring barley dropped by 19-69%, RMI Analytics reported this week.
Rain has fallen this week in France but quite variable in the amounts received, leaving many areas still in desperate need of rain. Elsewhere, the UK and Scandinavia have received good rains and these crops have benefited as a result.
Sharply higher remains the story for European barley prices, with France leading the way higher with the UK and Denmark up as well. There has been some softening in French wheat futures this week due to rains and this may provide price stability in the short-term.
