World: Barley production forecast reduced as final crop results are being published
Global barley production forecast is down slightly, to 148 mln tonnes (from 148.6 mln) in RMI Analytics latest report, with the analysts explaining the drop by the publication of the final crop results in the EU.
With demand expected to remain strong (despite the high prices) and supply expected to keep shrinking, the combination will result in explosive price movement, the industry observers said.
Export shipments in the current marketing year are strong in Ukraine and France (to China) while Canada drops out and Russia is reducing exports.
