Barley news Australia: ABB executive wins national management award

ABB Grain’s company secretary and legal counsel, Ashley Roff, has won Chartered Secretaries Australia’s ‘Corporate Governance Professional of the Year’ award, according to ABB press release, February 22.

Mr Roff said he was thrilled to receive the national award – judged on a company outside of the ASX-100 – which was presented at a gala function in Sydney this week.

“I am fortunate that I work in a progressive company with a board which appreciates the need to look after the three Rs: risk, return and reputation,” he said.

“A pleasing aspect of receiving this award is that it demonstrates the ability of South Australian companies to lead corporate change in Australia; I hope it inspires other South Australians to strive for best practice.”

Finalists in the awards were judged by a panel headed by BHP Billiton chairman, Don Argus. The panel was impressed by Mr Roff’s work in developing a solid governance framework, after the 2004 merger of ABB Grain and AusBulk Ltd.
