Czech Republic: Staropramen beer sales up 6% to 3 mln hl in 2006
The total beer sales of Pivovary Staropramen (not including production abroad under license) in 2006 reached 3.058 mln hectolitres, up 6 % over 2005, according to companys press centre, March 2.
The companys sales in the domestic market totalled 2.43 mil hectolitres for growth of 4,2 % year-on-year, which is double the growth of the Czech beer market overall. The major increase in domestic sales was driven primarily by the companys well chosen sales and marketing strategy and very warm weather in the main season.
Last year the companys exports grew significantly as well. Net export was up 13.9 % year-on-year to 623 724 hectolitres. The flagship brand, Staropramen, is exported to 30 countries worldwide. The most important export markets include the UK, Germany, Sweden and Slovakia.
2006 saw a major growth in production of Staropramen beer abroad under license by 68.1 % to 645 477 hectolitres.
