China: Kirin Brewery of Japan is to boost beer production and sales in China this year
Kirin Brewery Co Ltd, the second biggest brewery of Japan, plans to increase beer production and sales in China, intending to enter the Shanghai market as early as June 2005, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported on May 10, without citing sources.
In 2005 Kirin plans to increase beer production in China by more than 200 % up to 3.2 billion hl, according to the same source. The target is to be achieved by forming a production tie-up this summer with San Miguel Corp, the largest brewer in the Philippines, the financial daily said.
Kirin produces beer in China through two local companies located in Zhuhai in Guangdong province and Dalian in Liaoning province.
