India: Diageo India gets a new managing director

Diageo India, a unit of UK-based alcoholic drinks company Diageo, has appointed Roland Abella as the company's new managing director following the resignation of Asif Adil, The Drinks Business Review communicated on March, 9.

Mr Abella was involved in Diageo's businesses in West Asia and North Africa. He also served as a commercial director for West Asia and India.

Dow Jones quoted John Pollaers, president of Diageo Asia Pacific, as saying: "Roland's appointment underlines the importance of the Indian business to Diageo. He brings substantial experience from Diageo's Middle East and North Africa business, and from his earlier role as commercial director for the Middle East and India."
