Brewing news USA: Bankruptcy for Pittsburgh Brewing could be avoided

Union workers at Pittsburgh Brewing, which makes Iron City and other beers, will meet next Sunday to vote on the tentative new deal with the union in order to avoid the bankruptcy of Pittsburgh Brewing Co. through a reorganization plan, according to The Pittsburgh Channel on January 16.

The deal was reached late last week between the IUE-Communications Workers of America and Pittsburgh Brewing Acquisition, the company that wants to buy the brewery out of bankruptcy.

The brewery says the deal will help save enough money to keep the business afloat.

Attorneys for Pittsburgh Brewing were scheduled to be in court Tuesday to get the reorganization plan approved, but they've asked the judge to delay that decision until Feb. 6, after the union vote.
