Ukraine: Ukrainian barley exports in July-December 2005 dropped by 34% year-on-year
Ukraine exported about 2.38 million tonnes of barley in July-December 2005 for the total worth of $310.482 million, AgriMarket.Info cited the State Statistics Committee saying on February 8. For the corresponding period previous year the country exported 3.19 million tonnes of barley for the cost of $298.72 million, it said.
The overwhelming share of the barley export in the first 6 months of this season went off to Saudi Arabia (1.25 million tonnes). Next came Iran with 388,100 and Jordan with 250,000 tonnes.
APK-Inform analysts expect the shipments of barley in the whole 2005/06 season to reach some 3.5 million tonnes against 4.31 million tonnes last season. The barley crop in 2005 amounted to 8.96, down from 10.97 million tonnes in 2004.
