USA: USDA’s estimate on American barley crop

The USDA reduced the American barley crop estimate by 10 % from last month, from 5.154 to only 4.620 Million tonnes, the smallest crop since 1936. U.S. feed barley export sales since the 1st of June were 412,000 tonnes, of which 211,000 to non-traditional North African/Middle East destinations. In spite of its small crop of this year the U.S. markets reacted immediately to the big price difference between barley and other feed grains in world markets.
