USA: Harpoon Brewery is expanding its Windsor brewery
Harpoon Brewery is expanding its Windsor brewery by adding three fermentation tanks, which will increase capacity by 25 %, The Associated Press posted on October 5. News of the expansion came as Harpoon officials celebrated the fifth anniversary of the Windsor brewery with a community reception Monday night.
Harpoon president Dan Kenary said the Windsor brewery produces over 400,000 cases of beer a year, which is about a third of the overall production. The company is also undertaking a major expansion at its Boston brewery.
Kenary and Rich Doyle started the Boston-based Harpoon in 1986 because they loved beer and wanted more choices. They bought the Vermont facility in 2000 from Catamount Brewery to help meet the growing demand. The company has been ranked as one of the fastest growing privately owned companies. It employs 65 with 13 of those workers in Windsor.
