News from e-malt USA: Jones Brewing Co. hit with $32,000 judgement

A judgment of more than $32,000 was filed on July 20 against Jones Brewing Co. in a dispute with a supplier who claimed the company did not pay in full for merchandise purchased over a three-year-period, The Tribune-Review Publishing posted on July 21.

Metropolitan Wholesale & Retail Beer & Soda Distributors Inc. filed a lawsuit against the Smithton-based brewery in May, claiming Jones did not pay the balance owed for supplies rendered since Jan. 20, 2002.

The retailer, in documents filed yesterday in Westmoreland County, demanded that Jones be ordered to pay $32,613, which covers the delinquent payments plus interest. The default judgment was entered after the brewery failed to respond to the lawsuit.

Penn Township Commissioners approved the preliminary and final site plan for Photography by Pati, a photography studio to be located at 1016 Harrison City-Export Road.

Patricia A. Heydorn will operate the studio. The township had filed suit against Heydorn in November, claiming the photography studio she operated from her 1025 Dahlia Lane home for nearly two decades did not comply with zoning regulations.

Under the terms of the settlement, Heydorn was to cease the use of the Dahlia Lane property as a photography studio by Sept. 1. In turn, the township did not pursue litigation against Heydorn. Commissioners approved a zoning change at the Harrison City-Export Road location in May.

A water line break early Wednesday on Route 993 in Westmoreland City, North Huntingdon Township, left an undetermined amount of residents without water until around 1:30 p.m. yesterday, according to the Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County.

The leak, which occurred just after midnight, required authority crews to replace 14 feet of the 10-inch pipe, said authority assistant Manager Michael Kenney. A cause was still being investigated yesterday by authority officials, Kenney said.
