News from e-malt Ukraine: 2005 barley crop is estimated at 10 million tonnes

Ukrainian barley crop in the current season is estimated by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine at 10 million tonnes, which is 9.7% less compared to 2004.

Olexander Baranivskyy, AP Minister mentioned earlier forecast of total grain crop this season (37 million tonnes) having pointed out that weather conditions are currently favourable for the crop growing.

The forecast of AP Ministry almost coincides with APK-Inform forecast. APK-Inform’s analysts expect total 2005 barley crop in Ukraine to make 9.9 million tonnes and total grain crop - 37.6 million tonnes.

According to State Statistics Committee, 2004 barley crop in Ukraine totalled 11.08 million tonnes in final weight, which was 68% up from 2003. Total 2004 grain crop in the country made 41.81 million tonnes, twice up compared to 2003.
