Brewing news Lithuania: Alcohol consumption declines in 2024 but beer remains the leader in terms of volume

The Lithuanian Department of Drugs, Tobacco and Alcohol has reported that the consumption of officially sold alcohol per person decreased last year, continuing a downward trend. It should be noted that the data does not include home-made and imported alcohol, Baltic News Network reported on June 30.

According to the Lithuanian Statistical Office, beer remains the leader in terms of volume consumption, with a total of 192 million litres of beer sold, which is almost 73% of all officially sold alcohol. Wine accounted for 16%, while spirits such as vodka, whiskey and brandy accounted for only 11%.

Whiskey saw the largest price increase in 2024, rising by 6.3%. Domestically produced beer followed with a 5.2% price hike. Brandy and sparkling grape wine experienced the smallest price increases, at 3.6% and 3.7%, respectively.
