As the final remaining variety under evaluation in Stage Two for 2024, this now completes assessment for the 2024 malt accreditation program.
It follows AGTs Cyclops and InterGrains Neo CL as having being approved by Grains Australia in recent months as a malting variety.
Laperouse is a medium to high-fermentability variety best suited to medium-rainfall regions across Australia.
It is being marketed to growers as having a low incidence of net blotch leaf disease, as well as a high retention rate over a 2.5mm screen, and a high test weight, with 71.8kg per hectolitre averaged over South Australian National Variety Trial sites in 2023-24.
Laperouse is available through Seednet.
