North America: Barley harvest effectively completed in Canada and the US
With barley harvest effectively complete, RMI Analytics crop estimate for Canada is steady at 7.8 mln tonnes.
The US harvest result at 3.20 mln tonnes is lower than a year ago due to lower contracted area.
Rains in Canada and the US are improving soil moistures for crop25.
Exports from Canada have started strongly, 7.1% above the 5-Yr average. Prices are steady as harvest is over and farmers have pulled back from selling. Another factor impacting the market is the lighter test weight feed barley being discounted at feedlots and prices are lower, as imported US corn is also strongly competitive.
