USA, MI: Barrister Brewing Co. to open for business on May 6
The only craft brewery and taproom in Shiawassee County will be open for business on Monday, May 6, WNEM reported on May 2.
Barrister Brewing Co., located at 902 W. Main St. in Owosso, is housed in a historic building from the 1800s. Its been turned into a taproom, brewhouse, and commercial kitchen, but the company kept many of the buildings historic elements, such as the original flooring and original front doors.
The company also did as much re-purposing as possible, such as re-wiring old light fixtures found in the basement, turning several old solid wood doors into guest tables and seats, and crafted the bar top from wood that was originally part of the garage.
The brewerys meals and craft beverages, including 10 beers and hard seltzer on tap, are produced from locally sourced products. The kitchen uses local grains to create house-made buns, rolls, pretzels, and more, which pairs well with its beer cheese, chili, unique house-made sausage, and smoked local meats, the brewery said.
The company said it buys its grain from Michigan farmers and sends spent grain to a local farmer who uses it for animal feed.
Barrister Brewing Co. will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays, 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and noon to 8 p.m. on Sundays. It is closed for business on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
