Barley news World: Final barley crop result to be defined in the next 3-4 weeks

As year-end approaches, barley prices are rather quiet, but the underlying barley availability means volatility is not far away, RMI Analytics said in their latest report.

While Canada’s crop size grew, there is still some quality variability to be managed. The same holds true in Europe, while the southern hemisphere is entering a critical period as harvests should complete by the end of 2023. In summary, the final crop result will be defined in the next 3-4 weeks, the analysts said.

Australia’s prices, which were steadily moving lower, have steadied as harvest was interrupted by rain. Argentina received heavy rains this week, with more in the forecast, while the newly elected government has already devalued the peso, making prices a bit unclear at present. France and Canada remain higher priced for malting barley, but Canada has become more competitive for feed barley.
