Canada: Canada barley production forecast remains at 9.3 mln tonnes

Beneficial rains have fallen across the regions of Alberta and western Saskatchewan in Canada, where moisture was much needed. The Calgary area, previously reported as extremely dry, received as much as 100 mm, RMI Analytics reported earlier in June.

Wet conditions and subsequent warm temperatures in the eastern regions of Canada are raising concerns of vomitoxin with the crop is generally behind normal. RMI Analytics� production forecast remains at 9.3 mln tonnes due to the improved situation.

Canadian barley prices are lower in alignment with other geographies and in part due to the improved moisture conditions, the RMI analysts said.

Barley area may still stretch slightly higher but the planting window achieved over the past weeks allowed widespread planting of all crops to advance.

Maltsters continue to pursue malting barley contracts while grain companies have new crop sales to fulfil. Early harvest shipments will be fast-paced, the analysts said.

Feed barley prices are down CAD20/tonne to CAD445/tonne Lethbridge, while imported US corn prices stand at CAD480/tonne.

The USDA forecast a considerable improvement in ending stocks from crop 2022, repairing supply.
