Barley news World: Barley trade forecast slightly increased in USDA’s February report

Global barley trade in 2021/22 is forecast to total 34.113 mln tonnes versus 34.038 mln tonnes forecast in the January report and 36.696 mln tonnes forecast for marketing year 2020/21, USDA said in its February report.

Export forecasts are higher this month for the EU (7.5 mln tonnes vs. 7.3) and Canada (1.6 mln vs. 1.5 mln tonnes in the January report).

World barley production is forecast at 145.788 mln tonnes this month, down from 147.051 forecast for 2021/22 in January and 160.034 mln tonnes forecast for 2020/21.

Total barley consumption is seen at 150.071 mln tonnes versus 151.451 mln tonnes in last month’s report and 161.451 mln tonnes in 2020/21. Ending stocks are forecast at 16.664 mln tonnes versus 17.088 and 20.088 mln tonnes, respectively.
