Barley news World: Malting barley in surplus in the southern half of the world only

There are large surpluses of malting barley in the southern half of the world, large deficits in North America and Mexico, and a tight situation in Europe, H. M. Gauger GmbH reported earlier this month.

The EU has exported to and imported from 3rd countries. In Europe, America and China compromise qualities of 2- and 6-row barleys must fill up the malting barley supplies. North American imports are expected to grow substantially in the coming months, although there is a continued apprehension about the phytosanitary condition and possible rejection of Australian and Argentinean barley at the U.S. and Canada borders. The EU and the U.K. can hardly put up another panamax of old crop barley.

New crop business has already been substantial from Ukraine and France, mainly feed barley to China.
