EU: Weather mostly good for harvesting and planting in November

Autumn weather has been too rainy in October, good for harvesting and planting in November, except for too much precipitation in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, H. M. Gauger GmbH said in their December report.

Altogether winter grains are in the ground, the acreage of winter wheat has returned back to normal, which will reduce or normalize spring barley plantings in 2021, the analysts said.

The IGC estimate of winter wheat plantings in the EU is 24.5 mln ha, up 8% y/y; in France seedings of winter wheat are 5.1 mln ha, up 20%, winter barley 1.28 mln ha, up 8%, prospects for spring barley are 620 thousand ha, down 23% y/y.
