Germany: Barley malt production only slightly down in the first two months of the current season

Germany’s barley malt production totalled 302 thousand tonnes in July-August this year, versus 329 thousand over the same period in 2019, H. M. Gauger GmbH reported earlier in December.

The nation’s total barley malt output was 1.885 mln tonnes in 2019/20 and 1.907 mln in 2018/19.

Wheat malt output during the first two months of the current season was 22 thousand tonnes vs 27 thousand in July-August 2019.

In 2019/20, Germany’s wheat malt output declined to 157 thousand tonnes from 180 thousand in 2018/19.
