USA, TX: Brew Monkey Beer Co. to open its doors in San Antonio on August 29

San Antonio�s newest brewery, Brew Monkey Beer Co., has announced an Aug. 29 opening date at 11935 Starcrest Drive inside the Blossom Business Park, the San Antonio Express-News reported on August 18.

The 2,000-square-foot facility is equipped with a 15-barrel system, and owner Jim Hansen said that he will have five to seven beers available at the noon launch on his 20-tap line in the tasting room, as well as 32-ounce crowlers for curbside sale.

The beers are being brewed now and will include a honey blonde ale called Summer Lightning Ale, an Irish stout named A Man & His Dog, Hometown Lager, Hot Wells Hefeweizen and an India Pale ale named Meet in the Middle.

�We�re all about making beers that customers will be able to enjoy a few without getting hit over the head with it,� Hansen said. �It�s all about brewing easy drinkers and sticking with classic recipes.�

Under guidelines established by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission during the COVID-19 pandemic, Hansen said he was given the green light to open Brew Monkey at a time when some other local breweries have been relegated to curbside-only business. He will have a food truck on the property during business hours, as well as a large lineup of merchandise that includes hats, T-shirts and koozies that will balance out his beer sales.

The tasting room has a seating capacity of 40, but will operate under the required 50 percent capacity guidelines, with additional seating outside the building.
