Brewing news USA, TX: ‘Supernatural’ star Jensen Ackles building Family Business Beer Co. in Texas

One of the stars in the long-running CW show ‘Supernatural,’ Jensen Ackles, likes to keep it in the family: teaming up with his on-screen brother to battle monsters — and with his real-life brother-in-law to open a brewery in the Texas Hill Country. He is one of the partners behind Family Business Beer Co., an upcoming brewery at 19510 Hamilton Pool Rd. in Dripping Springs, austin360 reported on July 14.

The eight-acre Family Business Beer Co., slated to open later this summer, aims to be a destination brewery offering a range of beers, from session IPAs to barrel-aged stouts, as well as live music, outdoor games and food trucks. Built from the ground up, the brick-red brewery facility will have interior windows allowing visitors in the tasting room to watch the brewing process in action.

And you can count on the beers to be good, thanks to the brewing chops of a veteran in the local beer industry: Ackles and his brother-in-law, Gino Graul, have tapped former (512) Brewing head brewer Nate Seale to form a program focused on all those sour, barrel-aged and hop-centric beers they’re looking for.

People can keep track of the construction at Family Business Beer Co., about a 10-minute drive from beloved watering hole Hamilton Pool, on the brewery’s Facebook page, which already has more than 8,300 likes and is flooded with comments from excited “Supernatural” fans from all over the country.

Although there’s still work to be done to get the boozy business up and running, it’ll have to be without Ackles — Entertainment Weekly reported two days ago that he and co-star Jared Padalecki, also an Austin fixture, are back on set in Canada to film season 13 of the popular show, which returns in October.
