World: Gain stocks remain burdensome but this year’s consumption is expected to surpass production

World grain stocks remain burdensome and market prices under pressure. However, this year’s consumption will surpass production, leading to smaller end stocks by summer of 2018, H. M. Gauger GmbH said in their June report.

Of all grain stocks at the end of the crop year 214 mln tonnes (45%) will be in one country only, in China, the analysts believe.

During the present grain year 345 mln tonnes of grains will be processed industrially, of which 185 mln for ethanol and 122 mln tonnes for starch, an increase of 20 mln tonnes in two years’ time.
