USA: Miller is to pay around US$1.3 million to settle claims for unpaid overtime by its sales representatives. The move comes after the brewer was sued by one of its sales staff, Just-Drinks posted on April 19. John Quisenberry, an attorney for the 150 sales representatives who made the claim, said late last week that Superior Court Judge David M. Minning signed off on the settlement on April 14. The sum will be divided equally among the plaintiffs, Quisenberry said.

Thomas Moreno sued Miller, claiming that the company was violating state law for not paying him overtime during four years as a sales representative. He also claimed that other plaintiffs were not paid overtime either.

Miller said in court papers that the employees were exempt from overtime payments under California Labour Code regulations.
