Canada: CWB projects strong price outlook for 2007-08
The CWB released its March Pool Return Outlook (PRO) for the 2007-08 crop years, according to CWB’s news room, March 22. Feed barley (Pool A) PROs are unchanged versus the February PRO, while malting barley PROs are CA$2 per tonne higher.
Feed barley
Export feed barley prices are unchanged from the last month’s PRO.
Designated barley
The malting barley market is expected to remain strong given the relatively tight global supply-and-demand situation. Spring barley planted area in Europe is forecast to be lower than last year, in turn supporting new crop values.
