EU: Overview on malting barley prices for 2005 crop
Analysts estimate that domestic feed barley markets hover around intervention levels. Malting barley prices are increasingly depressed by poor export business (no more chances for sales to China) and a lack of any demand in domestic markets.
Analysts believe there is still open demand for the second half of the grain year, but the bad malt markets discourage maltsters from covering further quantities. Present price levels for crop 2005 are:
