Saudi Arabia: SAGO purchases 660 thousand tonnes of feed barley in its last tender

The Saudi Grains Organization (SAGO) purchased 660,000 tonnes of feed barley for April/May arrival at US$ 280,- CIF (average price), H. M. Gauger GmbH said in their April report.

Tender purchases for 2020/21 by the nation totalled 5.0 mln tonnes. Authorized private purchases added 1.1 mln tonnes, total demand for the crop year is 6.7 mln, the analyst said.

It was SAGO�s last tender, as they will exit the barley business and hand over buying to 11 selected private companies. Feed subsidies will be paid to compound feed producers and livestock farmers, calculated on basis of heads of livestock, by type of animal, from camel to chicken. Thereby markets will decide the volume of future grain procurement.
