Russia: Draught beer sales drop 29.9% in January-October
The volume of draught beer sales in Russian cities dropped by 29.9% in January-October this year, Vedomosti reported on December 4, citing data by Nielsen.
The same period last year saw sales increase by 1.9%, it is reported.
The decline this year could be explained by the fact that sales of draught beer declined in supermarkets, hypermarkets, discount shops, and smaller retail outlets, which together account for 76% of the market, the Nielsen analysts said. However, industry sources also pointed out a lower demand for such beer in restaurants.
