USA: Heiner Brau Brewery in Covington is closer to receiving a liquor license
The Heiner Brau Brewery in Covington is nearer to receiving a liquor license, thanks to a unanimous vote by the City Council on August 23 night.
The council passed a resolution that amended the local option ordinance stating that alcohol cannot be sold within 300 feet of a school. In this case, the school in question is Delgado Community College. Officials interpret the law, as it would pertain to full-time schools, not to apply to part-time institutions such as Delgado.
"The mayor and City Council have done a tremendous job on behalf of Heiner Brau," the owner Spiceland wrote in a statement."Without their support we would still be waiting on our state liquor license. I cannot thank them enough for their support. This is a very pro-business group. Mayor Candace Watkins is my new hero," Evans Spiceland stated.
