Canada: Beer- the absolute leader on the British Columbias beverage market
The most popular beverage in British Columbia is the beer. The latest quarterly market survey deployed by B.C. Liquor Distribution Branch's shows that beer has a share of 75% in all liquor sales in the province, by volume.Imported beer sales were up by nearly 6%, while Domestic beer sales fell by 1.25% in the 12 months up to this June
Nevertheless domestic beer still leads by far in total volume. More than 236 million litres of domestic beer have been consumed between June 2004 and June 2005, compared with 31 million litres of imported beer.
The next in the British Columbian top comes wine, accounting 13% of total sales by volume. Hard liquor have 6.3%, coolers 3.2% and cider 2.3%.
