EU: Barley crop estimated at up to 57 mln tonnes this year
EUs barley crop in 2018 is estimated at 56 57 mln tonnes, about 2.0 mln tonnes less than last year, H. M. Gauger GmbH reported earlier in December.
As Spain harvested 3.0 mln tonnes more this year, the difference is minus 5.0 mln tonnes for the EU countries north of the Pyrenees.
EU barley exports to third countries to-date are 2.1 mln tonnes, 10% lower than in 2017/18.
Imports are down 72% to 87,000 tonnes, because Spain needs less feed imports during this crop year.
Barley continues to top the price list of feed grains in the central EU markets.
