France: Winter barley production expected to drop 1.7% this year
According to a report published on August 9 by FranceAgriMer, Arvalis, and Terres Inovia, Frances winter barley production is expected to amount to around 8.7 mln tonnes and spring barley 3.05 mln tonnes this season, La France Agricole reported.
Winter barley output will thus decline by 1.7% as compared to last year but will still be 8.8% higher than the 2013-17 average. Yields are expected at 6.5 t/ha. As for malting quality, protein levels are reported to be good, 10-11% on average, local experts report.
