Germany: German barley import demand estimated at around 1 mln tonnes
Germanys malting barley selection estimates this year are: two-row winter barley at 70 90,000 tonnes, spring barley at 1.0 to 1.1 mln tonnes, H. M. Gauger GmbH said in their latest report.
South German barley was affected by drought conditions, all of Germany by torrential rainfalls at harvest time. Lower yields and phyto-sanitary problems are feared, particularly in the north. In the southwest excessive protein contents are reported, averaging 11 to 13%. Import demand estimate is 150 200,000 tonnes of 6rw and about 900,000 tonnes of 2rs barley.
Polands crop prospects were quite good, but now at harvest time heavy rains endanger yields and qualities of spring barley, it is reported.
