Canada, BC: B.C. Brew Co. & Distilling expected to open in Kamloops later this year
Kamloops This Week reports that the owner of Canadas largest hops farm has started construction on a brewing and distilling facility that is expected to open later this year just outside of Kamloops.
B.C. Brew Co. & Distilling is being founded by Joey Bedard, owner of Hops Canada, a hops brokerage that opened a 200-plus acre hops farm last year in partnership with the Tkemlups Indian Band.
The new venture is being established on an 11-hectare site in Monte Creek that will eventually feature a brewery, distillery, malting room, tasting room, and a small plot of hops. In addition to locally grown hops, B.C. barley will be used in producing the beer, and local potatoes have been sourced for making vodka.
While construction continues on the new facility, Bedard has contracted a brewery in Kewlona to produce B.C. Brew Co. beer, which has been on tap at bars throughout the area since late last year.
