Brewing news Germany: Warsteiner brewery is expanding its supply chain management solutions in order to optimize its production process

Warsteiner brewery has decided upon expanding its supply chain management solutions by implementing Advanced Scheduling to its existing software, Microfax Software released November 09. Other software used by the German brewery focuses on its production and material demand planning and along with the new software, it attempts to streamline its supply chain management at its breweries in both Warsteiner and Paderborn.

Due to the nature of the food and beverage industry, companies require effective asset tracking and supply chain management solutions needs to be tailored specifically towards the industry so perishables are always accounted for in real-time.

Peter Himmelsbach, technical director of Warsteiner Brewery, remarked: "Since the implementation of the INFOR solution, we can react more quickly and effectively to external factors such as customer requirements and changes in demand, and thus optimize our production process accordingly."

He went on to mention the merits of the new supply chain management solutions including an increase in the level of customer satisfaction and the savings that accompany using purchasing and scheduling software.

Warsteiner is aiming to discover the most cost-effective methods of filtration and bottling and has placed emphasis on positive customer interaction with initiatives such as re-designing the crates that carry their beer so they incorporate soft handles and are more comfortable to use.

Founded in 1753, the Warsteiner Brewery is one of Germany’s largest private breweries. Its flagship is the WARSTEINER Premium Verum brand, which is one of the most popular beers across Germany. In addition, the product portfolio includes the beer mixes WARSTEINER Lemon, Cola and Orange, as well as the reduced-calorie HiLight beer.

Apart from the Warsteiner Brewery, the Haus Cramer Group also owns Paderborner Brauerei Haus Cramer KG (Paderborner, Isenbeck, Weissenburger) and Casa Isenbeck in Argentina, as well as interests in König Ludwig GmbH & Co. KG, Schlossbrauerei Kaltenberg (König Ludwig Dunkel, Prinzregent Luitpold Weissbier) and the Frankenheim Brewery (Frankenheim Alt, Frankenheim blue, Frankenheim lemon) in Düsseldorf, and breweries in Cameroon, Gambia and Nigeria.
