Russia: Russian barley exports decreased by 44.4% during July-August
During July-August Russia exported 253,000 tonnes of barley, down by 44.4% from the same period of 2005-06, APK-Inform cited on September 21 the State Customs Committee of Russian Federation. The decrease was attributed to the price increase on the local market and the fall of production.
The average export price for barley totalled $106/tonne in August 2006 (against $103 in July 2006 and $106 2005).
The main importer of Russian barley remains Saudi Arabia - following the results of the first two months of the current season it bought 84,400 tonnes of barley (33.4% of all Russian export). Jordan takes the second place - it imported from Russia 48,600 tonnes of barley (19.2%).
