Barley production is forecast to fall by 40 per cent in 2006-07 to 1.35 million tonnes, reflecting the reduced area and below average yields, particularly in southern and central regions of the state.
Victoria
The area planted to barley in Victoria in 2006-07 is estimated to have declined by 9 per cent to 850 000 hectares. Production is forecast to fall to 1.1 million tonnes, 45 per cent below the previous seasons level, reflecting the reduced area sown and below average yields.
