India: United Breweries Ltd earns a net profit of Rs27.53 crore for April-June 2006

United Breweries Ltd (UBL) has recorded a 100 percent growth in net profit at Rs27.53 crore during Apr-Jun 2006, which is attributed to a significant increase in the sale of beer, India Business Insight Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge. The company's Kingfisher Strong beer registered a growth of 41 percent and Kingfisher Mild grew by 18 percent.

The profit before tax of McDowell and Co, a subsidiary of UBL, increased by 212 percent while its revenue grew by 20 percent. The earnings before interest, depreciation and tax of the UBL group grew by 70 percent to Rs104.5 crore while the profit before tax increased by 168 percent to Rs73 crore.
